One of our favorite nonprofits in Portland celebrates their new spring fundraiser tonight! Show & Tell: A Literary Spectacular takes center stage at The State Theatre and is the primary fundraiser for The Telling Room in support of their free writing programs for Maine youth. The 90-minute literary cabaret will showcase stories across mediums from a variety of storytellers including poet Kaveh Akbar, writer and editor Heidi Julavits, novelist Dolen Perkins-Valdez, and more. Steve Almond, writer, podcaster, and troublemaker, will host an evening that will raise awareness of young peoples’ need for confidence-building creative literacy instruction.
