joe says "ptla 50th"

One of Joe's most ardent beliefs is that every Mainer, regardless of income or background, should be guaranteed access to the justice system. This guiding principle has been a constant theme in his 43 years of practicing law and it is shared by an important local organization, Pine Tree Legal Assistance. Pine Tree (PTLA) is committed to making the justice system more accessible for all Mainers, regardless of income, using three effective strategies: practicing legal advocacy, informing Mainers of their legal rights, and conducting legal education for Maine communities. This work has been invaluable in our community since PTLA's inception.

This Friday, October 6th, PTLA is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary. Please consider joining them as they celebrate at Hannaford Hall at USM with a conversation about justice, poverty, and current events. US Senator Angus King, a lifelong believer of justice for all, will be in attendance. Senator King came to Maine in the summer of 1969 to work for Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Skowhegan. Forty-eight years later, he is serving as a United States Senator for the people of Maine and sits on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Joe offers his thanks to the folks at PTLA and urges you to learn more about the organization here and more about this 50th celebration here.
