One of Joe's favorite parts about his hometown of Portland is its historic architecture; from the peninsula all the way up through Deering, Portland has no shortage of beautiful historic homes and other landmarks. Today Joe is promoting Greater Portland Landmarks, a Portland organization that works to increase the public’s connection to greater Portland’s historic built environment by providing leadership, advocacy, educational publications, programs and resources, and by acting as steward of the Portland Observatory (1807) for future generations. Founded in 1964, Greater Portland Landmarks' mission is to preserve and revitalize greater Portland's remarkable legacy of historic buildings, neighborhoods, landscapes and parks.
This weekend, March 30th and 31st, join Greater Portland Landmarks for its annual Old House Trade Show, Maine's premiere event celebrating historic preservation, high quality craftsmanship, traditional construction and sustainable practices in Maine and New England. This great event will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay and will feature workshops and demonstrations that anyone interested in old homes will find fascinating. Joe hopes the event is a great success and he offers his thanks to Greater Portland Landmarks for the important work they do to preserve what we all love about Portland.
