Hunger in Maine is an issue Joe has raised before on the Time & Temp, and he's doing it again to promote an event taking place later this week. On Friday, October 7th, from 11am to 4pm in Portland's Monument Square, local chefs and volunteers will serve thousands of people a delicious, free meal made entirely from fresh, locally grown food that otherwise would not have been eaten. Feeding the 5000 Portland, Maine is part of a global campaign to reduce the amount of nutritious food that goes to waste in our homes and communities. The event will highlight Maine's local food bounty, as high-profile chefs and speakers offer common-sense solutions and inspire us to take action. Find more about the global campaign here, and the local one here. Joe hopes it's a great success and offers his thanks to everyone who made this event possible.
