By now Portlander's are familiar with Joe's appreciation of A Company of Girls, an award-winning, nationally recognized after school resiliency/mentorship program that uses the arts (visual, performing and culinary) as a basis for youth empowerment. ACOG’s programming helps shape girls into young women who have the confidence and spirit of inclusiveness to make positive changes in our community, and remain resilient to life’s challenges. To accomplish this goal, ACOG staff rigorously work to execute a curriculum based in the arts that encourages the building of self-confidence and self-esteem in order for girls to discover, develop, honor and use their unique and valuable voices.
Tonight, Tuesday November 13th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, ACOG is hosting empow(h)er, a night out at the Portland House of Music to support ACOG's arts-based resiliency/empowerment programming for girls. This fun evening will feature a theatrical performance, a silent auction, and plenty of tasty treats. Joe is sure it will be a fun night out for any Portlanders who want to support a wonderful local organization!
