This Friday, November 3rd, afterschool programs in the City of Portland will be participating in the annual Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs. Portland will be one of more than 8,000 sites across the nation sending the message that afterschool is key to children's success, and that we must keep the lights on and doors open after school. Parents, media, employers, neighbors, school officials and others have been invited to help us rally support for safe, stimulating afterschool programs. LearningWorks Afterschool Portland and South Portland is partnering with Maine College of Art (MECA) in hosting a Lights On Afterschool Rally and Showcase on Portland's First Friday Art Walk on November 3rd, 2017. Student artwork will be displayed and a line-up of champions will speak in support of afterschool programming in the greater Portland area. Join them from 4:15-5:00 pm for presentations and performances, then stick around from 5:00-7:00 for a student art exhibit, a co-creation of LearningWorks Afterschool and the MECA MAT program. Joe hopes the event is a smash success!
