In our line of work, Joe's Team has seen too many lives ruined by dangerous driving. To raise awareness about this important issue, Joe holds the Arrive Alive Creative Contest each year for graduating high school seniors throughout Maine. Now in it's 17th year, seniors may enter by submitting a creative project that sends a message to their peers about the dangers of drinking and driving and/or distracted driving.

Past entries have included essays, poems, paintings, public service announcements, videos, original songs, t-shirts, board games, drawings and more. The more creative, the better! First place winners receive a new laptop computer, second and third place winners receive a new iPad, and everyone who enters wins fun prizes from the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein.

Only 70 days until the deadline for this year's contest. A complete set of rules and all past winners can be found at ArriveAliveCreativeContest.com. Joe encourages any and all high school seniors in Maine to submit an entry into the contest, and more importantly encourages everyone on the road to practice safe driving techniques.

Of all the blessings that enabled Joe to succeed and thrive as an attorney, surely the education he received as a young child ranks near the top. As a lawyer, the ability to read and write is crucial, and Joe's team wishes that all children could receive the same education he did. This is why we're thrilled to promote the Read to ME challenge, a month-long public awareness campaign to promote childhood literacy in Maine held annually during February. This year the Maine Department of Education will Celebrate the Read to ME Challenge with a series of recorded videos by students and adults.

The Read to ME Challenge is an opportunity to contribute to a child’s literacy growth by reading aloud to one or more children for at least 15 minutes. The steps for taking the challenge, and the resources to promote the challenge can be found here. Have you ever wanted to make a difference in your community but felt like you needed help? Joe knows how much being part of a group can empower an individual, and that's why he's proud to promote the Southern Maine chapter of 100 Women Who Care. 100 Women Who Care Southern Maine is a group of local women who are interested in supporting our communities by contributing to Southern Maine charities together as a group to increase the impact. The organization's mission is to reach out and help the community by finding 100 or more women (the count is currently almost 400!) to each contribute $50 four times a year in order to give $20,000+ annually to local charities. All charities and organizations up for consideration must be in the Southern Maine area. The idea is to keep it local and have an impact that can be seen in our communities!

100 Women's next meeting is tonight, Monday night, February 1st. Given these strange times, tonight's meeting will be held via ZOOM. Lending a helping hand as part of a strong community has never been easier- you can do it from the comfort of your own home!

This lovely message was decided on by the winner of an auction put on by the Cromwell Center for Disabilities Awareness, a wonderful local nonprofit with the mission of promoting safe, respectful and inclusive schools and communities. More love is just what the doctor ordered in these troubled times, so Joe's team is glad that the auction winner chose such a timely message.

Once again Joe is spreading the gospel about the Center for Grieving Children, a Portland-based organization that serves more than 4,000 grieving children, teens, families, and young adults annually through peer support, outreach, and education. Since its founding in 1987, the Center for Grieving Children has served more than 66,000 children, teens, and their families.

One of Joe's favorite local radio stations, WCYY, is lending a hand to the CGC with another year of the Mark-a-thon. When you donate to the Center for Grieving Children, DJ Mark will play ANY song, ANY style by ANY artist. Listen all week, around the clock on 94.3 WCYY!

Portlanders will know that this isn't the first time the Time & Temp has promoted the Maine Academy of Modern Music, a local organization that aspires to provide Maine youth with the discipline, freedom, and guidance to appreciate the thrill of making contemporary music, instilling in them the power of self-expression. MAMM is dedicated to building leadership through the musical arts.

The good folks over at MAMM hope that you take a few minutes to watch a virtual presentation of this year's Chords For Kids: MAMM's Scholarship Gala Fundraiser. This rocking annual event was held at Portland's spectacular music venue AURA and featured performances by MAMM students.
