joe says "be a big"

In a rare three-word message, Joe is spreading the word this week about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine.  Committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by helping them grow up healthy and ready for the future, BBBS serves hundreds of children each year. Since 1995, the organization has matched caring adult and high school-aged volunteers with children to foster nurturing, professionally-supported, one-to-one mentor relationships. These are matches that truly change lives - for both the children and adults who are involved. January is National Mentoring Month, so Joe says you should keep this organization in mind and consider getting involved! Find more about BBBS at their website.

joe says "thnx mlk"

Each January, Joe is reminded of the achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and is humbled and inspired by the Reverend's bravery and struggle for justice. While the pursuit of justice is never complete, racial equality has come a long way in Joe's lifetime, and that's thanks in no small part to Dr. King. So today, Joe says "THNX MLK".

Each year on this blog Joe spreads the word about Winter Kids, an organization that helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity. If you grew up in Maine like Joe did, you know the importance of outdoor play-- especially in the winter when we tend to spend most of our time indoors! On Saturday, January 19th, 2019, hundreds of Mainers will experience the thrill of sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating, and much more at Winter Kids' annual Welcome to Winter Festival. At Payson Park in Portland from 12:30pm - 2:30pm, kids and families will enjoy great sledding and snowshoeing, healthy snacks, raffle prizes, warm winter giveaways, a welcome from city officials, and more. Find out more about this wonderful event here. Joe says have fun and stay warm!

joe says "npft day"

As Portlanders know, Joe spends more time promoting local nonprofits than his own law firm on the Time & Temp. Well, today he's promoting a local non-profit that *promotes* local nonprofits. Get it? The Maine Association of Nonprofits is celebrating Nonprofit Day, an opportunity to shine a spotlight on nonprofits as the essential community infrastructure they are.

MANP's mission is to enrich the quality of community and personal life in Maine by strengthening the leadership, voice, and organizational effectiveness of our state's nonprofits. Every day, Mainers rely on nonprofits to nurture our minds, protect our environment, inform our government, educate our children and drive our economy-all while investing significant financial and human resources throughout the state.

On January 17th, 2019, MANP is hosting Nonprofit Day, a collective day of action to raise awareness for how #NonprofitsWorkforME.

Joe hopes you learn more about MANP and Nonprofit Day here.

Joe is once again spreading the word about The University of Southern Maine’s Veterans Upward Bound program, which serves up to 125 income eligible, first-generation veterans per year from across the state. Of Maine’s 119,058 veterans, 7,954 are low-income and 89,179 do not have a bachelor’s degree and are highly likely to be potential first-generation college students. The Upward Bound program provides assessment and enhancement of basic skills through counseling, mentoring, tutoring and academic instruction in the core subject areas. Veterans may apply to attend the college of their choice. Joe is once again spreading the word about,

TRIO Veterans Upward Bound will provide vital assistance to eligible veterans seeking to become college students, including the resources and support necessary to apply, enroll and succeed in post-secondary education. College-bound veterans will receive tailored support, academic tutoring, advising, preparation for college entrance exams, information on federal student financial aid programs, assistance in completing financial aid applications, guidance on entry into post-secondary education, educational and counseling services to improve financial and economic literacy, and intensive basic academic skills development; as well as general college readiness, study skills, career development, and personal and leadership growth.

Joe offers his thanks to the good folks at USM for offering this assistance to those men and women who bravely serve our country. Please learn more about this important program here.

Joe is once again promoting South Portland's very own Lyric Music Theater, whose current production is Irving Berlin's White Christmas. A Christmas card comes to life with this story of a song-and-dance-team putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn and falling for a stunning sister act in the process. joe says "call joe"

The Law Offices of Joe Bornstein, your favorite personal injury and social security disability attorneys serving the entire great state of Maine, created this website so that the people of Portland can finally figure out what Joe is trying to say with those cryptic messages up on the Time & Temperature Building. Whether it's a local non-profit looking for exposure, a small local business hoping to get the word out (and willing to support a local non-profit in the process), a favorite baseball team wining the World Series, a pain-in-the-you-know-what parking ban, or just a righteous cause that Joe believes in, the Time/Temp speaks to the city of Portland from its perch atop the city. Be sure to click "Load More Posts" at the bottom of this page to see all the messages that have been up on the Time/Temp! If you've ever found yourself or someone else asking what Joe is trying to say up there, then be sure to tell your friends, is the place to find out. And don't forget- if you've been injured and deserve justice, Call Joe.

Also, be sure to check out the non-profits page to see all the organizations that Joe has featured on the Time & Temp Building!
