One of the great things about living in Maine is the availability of fresh produce. There are plenty of places in this country where fresh food straight from the land isn’t an option for people, which makes Joe even more grateful to be a lifelong Mainer. One of Joe’s favorite spots to pick up fresh local produce is the Portland Farmer’s Market. Put on by the Portland Farmer’s Market Organization, this tasty local event is held every Wednesday in Monument Square and Saturday in Deering Oaks Park, both from 7am-1pm. Learn more about the markets here.
On Thursday, July 23rd, the PFM organization is hosting its Floral Dreamscapes fundraiser. Floral Dreamscapes is a floral design showcase and fundraiser featuring over-the-top flower sculptures made out of 100% Maine-grown flowers, twigs, foliage, and plants. The proceeds of this event support the SNAP program at Portland Farmer’s Market, expanding access to local food. Refreshments will include floral-inspired cocktails and small bites made with local seasonal food from Portland Farmer’s Market. Learn more about the event here, Joe hopes the event is a great success and hopes to see you at the next farmer’s market!
