joe says “buy local”

Did you know that $100 spent at locally owned businesses contributes an additional $58 to the local economy, compared to just $33 spent at a national chain? Joe didn’t either, until he did some research into the buy local movement, of which he is now an avid supporter.

The Portland Buy Local campaign is a partnership of local business-owners and citizens, whose mission is ” to support locally owned, independent businesses in Portland, to maintain our unique community character, provide continuing opportunities for entrepreneurs, build community economic strength, and prevent the displacement of community-based businesses by national and global chains.” These are all goals that Joe shares and applauds- he hopes that when you go shopping this holiday season and beyond, you buy local!
